The Old Testament prophet Jeremiah once said, “The heart is deceitfully wicked above all, who can know it?” How true that is. Even the most fruitful followers of Jesus still struggle with the conflicts of the heart. How can the same heart that is filled with compassion for those in need also turn right around and demonstrate such greed and hatred towards another person?
In this series, as we continue in Mark’s Gospel towards the crucifixion, we see the extremes of the heart – yet we also see Jesus never waiver. Is there hope for us? Is there help? Can we have a unified heart?
