The Men’s Ministry at Canaan Baptist Church is burdened to reach and minister to all men of all ages in our church and our community. Our God-given mission is to further His Gospel though Biblical teaching, prayer, mentoring and friendship, personal and spiritual support and service to others.
Foundations for Growth
Prayer is the lifeblood of about ministry. In addition to praising the Lord for all He has done in our lives, we lift up our church, pastors, leaders and the needs of others. We encourage everyone to set aside time for personal prayer each day. Our times of prayer are truly blessings.
Our weekly Bible studies are designed for men, covering such topics as faithfulness, integrity, leadership and honor. We welcome all men to join us each Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Walls of Accountability
The Men’s ministry is a wall of security to those with a spiritual need. With a commitment to confidentiality, we keep each other accountable in our daily walk with The Lord. While no one is obligated to share their struggles, many men discover that “there is no temptation that is not common to man,” (I Cor. 10:13) and that they are not alone in their difficulties. Whether in a group setting or one-on-one, the ministry seeks to mentor and encourage.
Pillars of Service
From home repairs and yard work for our elderly and widowed church members to our annual Car Show, New Year’s Celebration (aka “The Bash”) and the Father/Son Pancake Breakfast for Father’s Day, the Men’s Ministry plans a variety of activities and events. Hosting car clinics, handing out smoke detector batteries, and helping with youth group events are among our other projects. We also have a Men’s Prayer Breakfast every fourth Saturday of the month for a devotional and a time of fellowship.
Annually, the Men's Ministry attends the Promise Keepers event. We strive to live by these principles:
A Promise Keeper is committed to…
1. honoring Jesus Christ through worship, prayer and obedience to God's Word in the power of the Holy Spirit.
2. pursuing vital relationships with a few other men, understanding that he needs brothers to help him keep his promises.
3. practicing spiritual, moral, ethical, and sexual purity.
4. building strong marriages and families through love, protection and biblical values.
5. supporting the mission of his church by honoring and praying for his pastor, and by actively giving his time and resources.
6. reaching beyond any racial and denominational barriers to demonstrate the power of biblical unity.
7. influencing his world, being obedient to the Great Commandment (Mark 12:30-31) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20 ).
